e. The focus of this assignment is to examine how physical and mental incapacities are documented for court hearings and how professionals can help!
f. Additionally the student will examine resources that assist in maintaining independence for older adults. This case will also introduce students to the process that determines mental competency.
Maximum grade: 20 points will be awarded for successful completion of this assignment. Points will be awarded for preparation of role and class participation. Very informal discussion can help you brain storm together. Ask yourself, what would the law enforcement officer do in this case? Or what would the nurse do, etc… and portray your role as they may practice! Someone can be the judge, court reporter, court investigator and bailiff who assist the judge in making the court ruling or decision! They will READ all of the “testimony” and make a court ruling on the competency of our pretend older adults! It is really fun!
